My painting practice started with me as a teen, airbrushing t-shirts in a local mall down the street from my high school in a suburb of Chicago, where people from all walks of life would bring me photographs to airbrush on various apparel. This careful study of shapes and light was better learning than any costly education I would later undertake, and for the most part now, my painting consists of a layered and abstract depth that echoes the streets of Brooklyn — a kind of decay, excavation, and transformation.
